Hi all,

Have worked my way through everything but I'm stuck at the "fancy-suits-and-shined-shoes" puzzle and cannot for the life of me get any numbers/fractions to appear as has been mentioned here multiple times. I'm guessing I have to flip the picture in some way as I can grab it with the mouse but I seem to be misisng something.

Please send help

Now that I'm done, I thought I'd give some tips for all the mini-puzzles. The hints are in order of spoilage, and I do recommend you try to solve the puzzles and think about it for a while before you look at the hints. Also: Do not use mobile for this theorem. Seriously.

Finding the puzzles:

It's all on the Hints and Solutions page.

Theorem 42 completed! I can't wait to get the elite book!

On September 3, 2023 at 9:47AM EST Vyrik88 responded to EMC2:

Oh, thank you. I was doing it so the first number is the letter and the second is the word, so for VERGIL and 2/8 I did the 8th word (Homer) and then the second letter from that (E if going backwards, O if not)

On September 2, 2023 at 5:03PM EST EMC2 responded to Vyrik88:

Hm not sure how you’re getting those. The first number is the index and the second is the ordering. So the first set 2/8 means the second letter from “VERGIL” goes in the 8th position in the final answer.

On September 2, 2023 at 3:50PM EST Vyrik88 responded to EMC2:

I tried that a couple of days ago and today, and I got ELSROGHE and OTSISRSO (depending on if I do the letters in the names backwards or not). I also tried making words out of both of those and using ciphers, but nothing seems to be working.

On September 2, 2023 at 9:46AM EST EMC2 responded to Vyrik88:

It's a lot simpler than that. You're right that the numbers just represent indexing and ordering of letters of the names on front. But the gotcha here is that the image is flipped (you can tell by the people and stuff at bottom swapping sides from front to back). So the leftmost numbers refer to the rightmost names.

I've almost completely given up on the facade. I finally decided to look at all the facade hints in the forum, and even with that help, I'm still just getting gibberish no matter how much indexing and grouping and deciphering and anagramming I do. I had even started analyzing the melody of the song to see if there was a message in the notes before I realized that everything you need was on the one page. I'm now guessing the answer with 8-letter words that make sense, like Illusion, Deceived, and Trickery.

I honestly just want a solution and an explanation right now.

Still working on the facade, this puzzle has probably taken me longer than any other individual theorem. No matter how much indexing and ordering I do, I only come up with gibberish. I've tried everything else from extensive research on the Butler Library to indexing the lyrics of the song. Can someone please help me with this?

@Vyrik88 had the right idea. The gotcha is just to make sure the very first number is correct. It can seem like it’s moving fast when it’s not.

Stuck on the facade puzzle. I've gotten this far: Song is 'Facade' from Jekyll and Hyde musical. I can flip the photo of Columbia University's Butler Library over to reveal the 8 pairs of N/N digits replacing the names of the famous figures. But I can't seem to use the numbers to identify appropriate letters no matter which direction I use them assuming the directions between front and back of the picture may be mirrored. Any one who's solved this have a hint or gentle push that I'm headed in the right or wrong direction? Thanks in advance!

Really the only advice I can give u is if ur more skilled with a mouse then with ur hands, do it on a computer, but otherwise do it on a big iPad. The puzzle itself isn’t really hard to figure out, it’s mainly actually completing it. Good luck!
